You can check out up to four passes for free admission to 17 Chicago-area museums and cultural attractions, including Brookfield Zoo, Kohl’s Children’s Museum and the Chicago Botanic Garden.  The Museum Adventure Pass program is made possible with the generous support of Macy’s.

Homeschool Network

Homeschoolers hold an informal, parent-run, networking meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.  Please bring a snack and a drink, along with crafts and board games for your kids to enjoy while adults network.  All homeschoolers and prospective homeschoolers are welcome to attend.

Wednesday Road Crew

Explore the United States and find out more about our country.  We will be “touring” individual states and areas of the country using geography, science, music, games, drama and crafts.  Join us for as many weeks as you can. Registration is not required.  For kindergarten-through-fifth graders.

Golden Ticket Winner!

Congratulations to Elsie Martinez, Youth Services Librarian, for winning the Golden Ticket Award!  This annual award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding local contribution in library services to young people in his/her community by creating and implementing library programs that promote a love of literature and instill positive feelings about libraries.  The award will be presented in October at the Illinois Library Association annual conference.

Win With Reading Club

Fourth-through-eighth-graders may pick up the Win With Reading Club booklet starting Aug. 1. The club continues through Jan. 31, 2010. You can win books, video coupons, a crazy pencil and a trophy! Get a head start by reading Win With Reading books for the Summer Reading Club and earn double prizes. The books will be on display beginning June 6.

Storytimes

Help your child get ready to read with stories and songs.  Both Infants and Toddlers Together and Tiny Tyke Time offer instruction and take-home sheets on the six pre-literacy skills, Brain Gym or baby sign language.  One caregiver per child is encouraged for children to age 3.

Preschool Storytime [Ages 3 to 6] Stories, fingerplays and songs. Each storytime session will have an activity that focuses on a skill needed before children learn to read. Registration not required.
